This is certainly true of classical liberals, libertarians, rational secular skeptics, and the like. However, there is a small but fast-growing subset of leftist thought (often termed "regressive left") which very much does care (and not just about who you sleep with). To deny that is to be blind to a significant cultural shift. Let's all of us -- clear-thinking people of all political persuasions -- make sure their ideas are criticized and not allowed to take hold and eventually create policy.
