I just moved to Nebraska for the summer and it is a very Republican state and it is interesting how the Republicans tax like socialists in this state.

Iowa has a Republican governor and is just as much into high-tax socialism as Nebraska.

$7,000 property tax bill on a house assessed at $249,000

9.5% sales tax in Omaha for many purchases

Nebraska Income Tax Rates for 2017

6.84% income tax starts at $29,000 a year.

Wait, you're kidding right? Nebraska having higher property taxes than PA, and property taxes are a political hot potato here, and DOUBLE the income tax on top of that? In PA, the property tax would be about 1k-2k cheaper, we have 10 million more people than NE, close proximity to the ocean, NYC, DC, and Toronto, a centrist state government nowhere near right-wing like Nebraska, and taxes are lower in PA to boot, we are tax friendly to seniors, and salaries higher. You can't make this stuff up

It's b/c people don't mind paying taxes if they think it's not going to any... undesirables or Others. I've never heard a Republican complain about the gov't funding the Appalachian Regional Commission, but there were hundreds complaining about Obamaphones.
