Canada's strategy is to bypass Trump and deal directly with governors and mayors.
It is not "meddling" any more than is US states sending trade missions abroad and offering state incentives to get foreign investment.
Trump and his supporters should commend him. Isn't this what Trump always preaches when using twitter? Go directly to those you are targeting the message? Good for the goose, but not....
In addition, he is simply presenting his own economic theory, and was not 'telling' anyone do anything. He is pointing out that protectionism does not work, as we in the US should have learned from Smoot-Hawley.
I think what Hesychios objects to is the fact that your comment not only contributed nothing to the discussion, but it was not half as funny as you thought it was.
If you are going to go off on a tangent, at least put some effort and wit into it.
"It's a good strategy." Not really. It essentially now forces Trump to send surrogates to Canada to undermine Trudeau, campaign for the opposition party, punish Trudeau's business allies.
And anyway, isn't this what the accusations against Russia are about: meddling in U.S. domestic policy. It's ok for Canada, but not Russia. Really?
Having the Conservative Party of Canada associated with Trump would be a huge positive for Trudeau, not a negative. Trudeau and the Liberal Party have a lot of weaknesses right now but he could easily run an anti-Trump campaign against the Conservative in 2019 and win in a landslide. Trump is not popular in Canada (or anywhere else).
Interesting. Pretty sure signing NAFTA by Bill Clinton to outsource manufacturing jobs to Mexico, never making a serious unfair trade claim during the Obama years, bailing out the banks by Obama, implementing unending entitlement plants by Obama.
Hmm, interesting view. The article was from the BBC, (i.e. British Broadcasting Corporation). Typically, the BBC is rated one of the finest, most objective news gathering operations. But your point that the BBC is fake news operations is well worth considering.
The headline is definitely purposely miselading. If that's what people call fake news -- it is fake news.
I don't have a strong feeling for or against the BBC in general.
I read the article looking for the quote -- thinner border means ditching America First to the Brits I guess.
(psst - it worked -- the OP got all fired up and post the article here. )
