The trio of timelines can be jarring as you figure out how they all fit, and the fact that there are only a couple of women and no lead actors of color may rub some the wrong way.
From what I understand this movie is based on a true event so to stay true to the actual event the cast is going to resemble the actual humans involved.
Fortunately not every human on the planet wants to wipe out every part of history that *offends* someone......
Are we really expected to rewrite history to make it more racially diverse politically correct? Heck, why stop there. Lets replace any unfortunate events with circumstances that make everyone feel better. Stop worrying about what actually happened, something we can learn from, and replace it with a story that can make us all smile.
If there were no women or people of color with any significance to the what happened there, there is no reason to have them.
In Pearl Harbor (not trying to compare quality of movies here), the character Dorie Miller was significant due to his actions during the attack which earned him the Navy Cross. It was appropriate to have him represented in the movie.
If no such person in Dunkirk warrants a featured character, none should be added.
Although I'm sure there were plenty of blacks - and women - who got as close as they could.
