It's ridiculous that the government can outlaw a plant.

People should have every right to smoke pot if they choose.

I have no desire to smoke it. However, just because I don't want it and doesn't mean that I should be able to stop others from doing so.

Freedom people, freedom.

Good. These NFL national anthem protestors are a real disgrace. It's also a disgrace that nothing is being done about these scumbags. They're being handled with kid gloves. If I were NFL commissioner, I'd permanently expel from the league anyone who disrespects our anthem. They want to have their opinions? Fine. It's about time these scumbags start paying the price for it.

You could club a baby seal at midfield before the game and I'd still watch the NFL.

What they do in their own time off the field is one thing. The fact that the NFL and team owners allow these prima donnas to protest on the field on game day in team uniforms means the NFL and team owners support their statement. Employers can limit employees freedom of speech (protest for example) while they're on the clock. As others have said, this was just another reason to stop watching their game.

Twenty-six percent of those who watched fewer games last season said that national anthem protests, some of which were led by Colin Kaepernick, were the reason"

National anthem protests No. 1 reason viewers tuned out NFL games

I'm a Jets fan, that's my excuse. I could care less about Colin Kaepernick.
Yeah only 26% said the protests were an issue. That means 74% didn't list it as a number one priority.

Okay.

One of many reasons why folks have stopped watching.

Actually there is not much the owners can do as long as the current "Collective Bargaining Agreement" is in place.

Players can’t be disciplined for not standing for anthem, but . . . . – ProFootballTalk

Football games have always been a hair over 3 hours. I dont see the games as being longer. Show me these 4 your games you're talking about...

If you crunch the numbers, that amounts to 3% of respondents. Knowing what we know about these sorts of calls (that elderly people are most likely to participate), i'm not surprised that a handful of old bigots would stop watching football because of Kaepernick.
You just can't help yourself can you?

I am a long time fan of the game and I'm watching as much as ever. However -- that is mainly because of fantasy football. The quality of the game itself isn't as good. There are too many teams doing dink and dunk offense all of the time. They don't throw down the field as often, and there aren't enough interesting, trick plays. One good change they made was moving the extra point back so it isn't as much as an automatic as it used to be.

As for Kaepernick -- I could care less either way. I tune in for the games not the national anthem.
CapeCodTodd had it right -- skipping the entire game over an idiot protesting a one minute national anthem....does not make sense.

I watched parts of a couple of games on Fox. They made it a point to show those who didn't stand for the anthem by showing replays of anthem sitting during the game. Did the other networks do that?
