It's fine with me too.

Trump is the best material for 2018 election and exactly why many people split their ticket.

They figure that having a different party in Congress helps keep a check on the White House.

A different party in Congress can threaten Impeachment. The GOP wouldn't impeach Trump even if he danced naked around it tossing gasoline and burned it down.
