How many people believe that the Statue of Liberty is about immigration?
How many people believe that the poem displayed inside the pedestal (and was not part of the original gift), represents what the Statue of Liberty symbolizes?
The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of Liberty to the World. It is not a symbol of immigration, nor does the poem reflect any U.S. immigration policy. The poem is entirely unconnected to what the Statue was given to represent: Liberty.
Jim Accosta (CNN) recently publicly displayed his ignorance by trying to claim that Trumps immigration policy was against what the Statue of Liberty represents, making an utter fool of himself.
U.S. immigration policy has never been to allow unfettered immigration of anyone who wishes to come to the United States, but has always been controlled (until recently) and has had conditions attached, such as learning to speak English, and having something of value to offer.
Jim Acosta, and those who believe as he does, need to study and learn our history.
I saw that press conference. Aside from making himself look like an arse, he showed his complete ignorance. He was quoting the poem as if it was part of the constitution! That poem has nothing to do with immigration policy.
1. I asked two questions. I didn't see anyone else asking them.
2. I have no way of searching through every page to see if someone else has posted on this topic. There was nothing showing when I posted. Threads get buried very quickly if there are no immediate responses.
Isn't Acosta a Hispanic surname? Hmm, is there an agenda here?
