FWIW I live in Ohio and a guy across the street from my dad's house has 2 confederate flags hanging on his porch/in his house. The street has all sorts of people on it. When my dad has new visitors they always ask about the neighbor. Dad just says it is the "resident redneck" lol.
But his white neighbors hate it the most because they say it makes them look bad. No one really cares much about his flags though. People fly the flag to get a reaction out of people. No sense in falling for the plea for attention.
We have a neighbor from bama that has a giant one on the inside of his flip up garage door. It looks pretty cool.
There are laws on how to display the American flag appropriately. Since the Union won the war they should have the right to set laws on how to display the Confederate flag. If it is hung in such a way to intentionally offend people and that can be proven then it should be illegal. Otherwise it should be hung in the way set forth by the Union and in accordance with freedom of speech.
I rent in a suburban apartment complex in TN and my lease does not allow you to put certain things on your balcony. You can't even park a truck/van in front of your apartment if it has any lettering on it. Exception: Law Enforcement vehicles like police cars. I think if it's not in his lease he can do it. But if it is in his lease, it's probably the generic flags, banners, signs kind of language or it might just restrict the size of those items. In other words, it's NOT going to say you can have X flag but not Y flag.

There, skip the Supreme Court, I just ruled.
Your ruling is worth about as much as a fart. Smells the same also.

No you just plunged right onto the slippery slope.
I do not like the Stars & Bars but I do like my democracy and the rights that go with it.

So you think putting a Confederate Flag up in response to a black family moving onto your street is protected speech?
See, I don't see it that way. I see it as trying to incite something...violence.
If you always had it up, that's a different story. But I've read experiences of people on this forum and public figures like Dr Ben Carson who experienced this.
