I'm not sure why it's worth celebrating that people are working without drawing a salary. Would you give your work away for free? What downside might there be to a volunteer government?

Reason: corrected grammar
Key positions are not filled which can be a danger to our country. One has to look at the turn over in the white house to see the further dysfunction. While I'm in favor of cutting waste and a smaller government. I'm not in favor of seeing the white house used as a family run business.

It's not... because those people cannot draw a salary. They're not doing it out of goodwill.
A president cannot have close family being paid to work in his administration.
None of the Trump family are taking a salary and they don't have the big staff that the Obama's did.
Nah ... they are not taking a relatively small government salary. But they are charging the government exorbitant prices to use the freaking elevator in Trump tower, to use golf carts at Trump resorts, to pay for 'official' business trips for family members all over the world ... etc. For every dollar Trump 'saves' the government, he charges the government 100 times that for the use of his personal businesses.

Doesn't seem like much of a savings when one factors in the costs of SS protection and international travel, though.
