How about some good news for a change...

Bill Gates is at it again. The richest man in the world is giving back to the poorest among us.
On Tuesday, Gates donated 64 million Microsoft Corp. stock shares worth an estimated $4.6 billion.

if it goes somewhere else other than th bill and melinda gate foundation, then fine. if it goes to the foundation however, all it does is put money away from any taxation by the federal government. i thought you liberals all wanted to tax the heck out of the rich. but now oyu are praising them for putting money away where it CANT be taxed.

There are quite a few individuals who make charitable donations, and people who have given wealth away from Francis of Assisi through to Andrew Carnegie, George Peabody, Henry Wellcome etc and numerous others today if you just google.

Whilst Gates might not be exceptional, he and his wife are in very good company when it comes to such philanthropy, and I wish them well.

Thanks to his foundation, malaria and polio will be eradicated.

Big fan of his. Hate his products, but nobody has done more good globally than he has.

Most liberals may support increases taxes on the rich; this doesn't mean they hate the rich, despite an excellent propaganda campaign by conservatives.

I'm also fairly certain Gates himself has voiced support for increasing tax rates on the rich.

yes i know how foundations work, that isnt the point. with foundation, the money that goes into them is tax free. that means NO money goes to the federal government. and the foundation only has to give away a small percentage of its net worth each year, far less than any taxes that would have been collected by the government.

i never said liberals hate the rich, i said they wanted to tax the heck out of them. and of course gates is willing to have increased taxes on the rich, his money goes to where the government cant touch it, so why should he care if taxes get raised on the rich.

personally i dont care one way or the other, i am just pointing out the hypocrisy of liberals on this.
