Also, California, for all its flaws, contributes more to this nation's GDP than nearly every red state put together... Texas might be the only exception but - irony! - they also take advantage of tons of illegal labor, even if the locals hate "brown people."
This is the problem right here. If you’re against illegal immigration you’re a racist and bigot. People love to play the race card when they have no intelligent argument or point.

California also does not have a middle class anymore because of the influx of low skilled immigrants. Working class wages in California havent risen in nearly 30 years.

I know. Families in Wichita Kansas make more per year than families in Los Angeles. You have the wealthy L.A. people and millions of low wage immigrants that have pushed out all the americans for those jobs. So much so that Californians think Americans don't do those jobs anymore. No not in California they don't.

Most of the animosity against California is simple envy. When you watch some TV show with scantily clad girls ion some Cali beach during a Dakota Winter no wonder you are envious. When you are slaving at some non-union factory job in Alabama and see just how much a California Union Welder is being paid no wonder you are envious. When a Nebraska tractor driver sees just how hard so many immigrants are working picking winter vegetables in the big Valley you don't envy them so much but still buy the fresh vegetables.

If all of you are so incensed with California success why don't you, like the pilgrims of the "Grapes of Wrath", just move there?

You can find your scantily clad girls in Florida, too, and they don't have the insane, unreasonable rates that CA has. Oh, right, "the weather"...that's what makes it okay to crap all over everyone who doesn't make as much money as the elitist snots on the coast.

With cost of living adjustments the Wichita working class is living as well as some of the "rich" in LA.

That's the beauty of the process of self-sorting Americans have been engaging in. We don't have to live near people with views we find reprehensible.

Envy? Obviously you've never lived there.

I have lived in WI, IL, TX, CA and MD. You couldn't pay me to live in California. It is a hellhole. This is coming from someone who lives in Baltimore, MD.

Republicans in Wyoming and North Dakota spend far more than California. I have no problem with that because the tax rates are extremely low and the quality of services that North Dakota and Wyoming provide are far, far superior compared to California.

North Dakota has a 2 percent middle-class income tax for the 52,000 dollar of someones income, compared to 10 percent in California (income tax and SDI maternity leave tax) and Wyoming has zero income tax.

Republicans do like government spending on good, high quality services. Republicans have higher standards than the insane taxes and horrible services provided by the Democrats.

Gilbert, Arizona provides vastly superior services for a lower cost than Los Angeles. The reason is because Gilbert votes Republican and Los Angeles votes Democratic.

Nebraska and North Dakota are big spenders but have fantastic safety-nets, education, infrastructure and are extremely well-run. They are also very Republican.

North Dakota has 1/5 of the middle-class income tax rate of California, much lower sales and much lower property taxes and provides superior government services to the public than California.

Californians pay top dollar for horrific services. They have a third-word safety-net with millions falling through the cracks of society but they have socialist levels of taxes.

10% income tax for over 52,000 dollars a year for a single person plus many cities have sales taxes above 10% and property taxes are over 1% of the sale price. All that money flowing into that state and they have third-world quality services because it goes to government workers and pensioners.

I am not familiar with New York but I would venture to guess it is the same as California.
This is so wrong it's comical. Gilbert has a high standard of living because only upper class people can afford to live there. There is no industry in Gilbert either, so all the people living their have to earn their bucks in other cities. Gilbert basically eliminated all their "problems" by pushing them to other cities in the area. So give it a rest.

If Gilbert was THE sole municipality in this metro, it would look more like Tucson and not in a good way.....
