this was in October 2016, and it says that respect for cops was the highest it has been in 50 years! This, after all the anti police rhetoric from the left.

it seems the people realize that while bad police officers that abuse their power is a completely legitimate issue, the left completely politicized it by smearing all police officers as racist and acting that every case of a black man being shot by police was because of racism

this anti cop, anti flag, anti anthem stuff is a complete losing strategy for the Dems, and if they continue to double down on it they are walking off a cliff

I wonder why the left is politicizing so many issues and picking the unpopular side.

The flag kneeling, Muslim immigration, illegal aliens, the anthem, transgenders in school bathrooms, outsourcing jobs, ignoring rural America, et cetera.

I almost wonder what they will gift republicans next. I'm betting they give republicans Shakespeare

Oh, please - what "anti-police rhetoric from the left?" There are more posts on this joke of a forum from right-wing extremists pretending to define "the left" from a position of ignorance than there are threads or posts from all progressives here put together. It's such transparent BS and should be considered trolling at this point.

OP, you do realize that random "left-wing" thugs who hate the police do NOT represent mainstream progressives, right? You also realize that digging up nearly powerless internet personalities and low-end politicians who might also hate cops is meaningless since those types also do NOT represent mainstream progressives, right? Or have you just bought into the Faux News or Trump view of the world - either you blindly support us or you're against us and thus must be a "liberal?"

The strawmen being set up by the far-right are dense enough to fill a field at this point. They have no understanding of what it even means to be a progressive and instead foolishly lump every single person who doesn't blindly support Trump into the same bin of "liberals" and assume they are all "part of the conspiracy" and "working together to destroy 'mericuh!" The end result is absurd threads like this one full of insane assumptions, such as "liberals hate the police" followed by the usual hatred towards transgender people, Muslims, brown people - you know, the real bread and butter of right-wing bigotry and hatred.

Just knock it off. If you honestly think "the left" hates cops - vs. hating it when people die without good reason - you have no understanding of what you speak... and I'm not even going to be bothered addressing the rest of the stereotypical right-wing bigotry at the bottom of the OP's post.

Well, that's too bad because there is a real problem among police that needs to be fixed and as long as people are blind to it, that will not happen any time soon.

I would be open to the idea of trying to weed out bad cops, the problem is liberals once again overreached, and created hystera

According to you the reason cops can't be held accountable is because of liberals over reaching? Instead of treating the cause the thing to do is react to a symptom.
You're not very good at this.

except you are not showing how cops in general are not being held accountable

you ignore the cases of cops being punished when they do bad things

No, the problem is a lot of our politicians are in bed with the cops, cops do *internal investigations* when among themselves and aren't accountable to anyone.

The DOJ under Obama investigated the CPD and found a lot of problems, but NOTHING was done about them. Now why would that be, I wonder? Did the DOJ's investigation in Baltimore result in any changes? I'm asking because I don't know.

The entire group needs reforming with yearly psychological testing, immediate action taken, and investigations conducted by people who can be objective.

The law also needs to be changed so cops aren't given a greater advantage in a court of law.

And how many of those killings are justified? Most of them.
