With so many Puerto Rican's looking to move to Florida, it could have a huge impact on how Florida votes in future elections.
"Puerto Ricans are American citizens, thanks to a law passed in 1917. As a result, all they need to settle in the mainland is a plane ticket or a berth on a boat.
Their citizenship entitles them to vote, and they tend to overwhelmingly support Democratic candidates.
Florida-based Republican operative Rick Wilson thinks the hurricane might be a game changer. “If you put an influx of 100,000 Puerto Ricans who vote Democratic eight times out of 10 in the Orlando area, there you go,” he said."
The Daily 202: Trump’s Katrina? Influx of Puerto Ricans after Hurricane Maria could tip Florida toward Democrats.
Also, Puerto Rico will be rebuilt and the vast majority will most likely move back when it's up and running again with new houses, new buildings, new malls and schools.
Contrary to what some people want you to believe, Puerto Rico will not be a deserted island with nothing living in it except bugs and lizards.
I can see this happening. They thought the Puerto Ricans who were already coming in might turn the state blue. Now there will be more, and from what my Puerto Rican coworkers who have friends and family struggling down there tell me, they are royally po'ed at donny.

Sounds like Puerto Ricans are practically Oklahomans! Republicans have nothing to fear.
Puerto Ricans don't want to live in Florida, if they did, they'd already be there. Turn off the MSNBC and think for yourselves.
There are numerous articles about Puerto Ricans moving to the mainland. Some were written before the hurricane as the migration was already happening. Some are recognizing that the hurricanes might accelerate the migration.

And so what? Puerto Ricans are citizens and are free to go anywhere they like. They've been coming to the mainland in large numbers for what at least 100 years? They have every right to. There's nothing news breaking about this, but I don't want to burst your bubble.
Something else you refuse to think about is that most will probably go back to their Island which is their home and many don't want to leave there.
Also, Puerto Ricans like all Hispanics can think for themselves. They don't like to be used as pawns for political purposes during a natural disaster by people like yourself salivating at the thought they may all be democrats.

Actually you are quite wrong. Over the last few years s the P.R. economy has been in the toilet the influx of Puerto ricans into florida has been significant. Hurricane Maria will accelerate that.
Spoken as a Floridian.
