This might be correct but there's no law that says you have to ask someone if they are illegal. If you don't ask, you don't know. You can't profile and you certainly can't assume that they are. You also open yourself up for a discrimination lawsuit just by asking.

Actually, a new landlord will ask for your driver's license and not sure but maybe your SS card also. The driver's licenses in Calif. for an illegal alien will be different than a citizens or legal immigrant as on the license it will say "Federal Limits Apply". No other type of license will say that. So the landlord does know automatically that he is renting to an illegal alien.

California's law only gives sanctuary to well-behaved, productive immigrants. Anyone convicted or suspected of a long list of felonies will be turned over to ICE.
Keep the good ones, deport the bad guys. It's common sense. It's such a good law police chiefs supported it.
That isn't at all what California or other "sanctuary" cities are doing. They aren't turning anyone over to ICE but are actively hindering ICE.

Wrong. Did you read my post? Did you read California's sanctuary law? Under the sanctuary law just signed, any undoc alien with felony priors is NOT granted sanctuary and is handed over to ICE.
Of course the conservative fake news media will skip over that part. They'll lie and falsely claim that California gives sanctuary to criminals. It doesn't. Sanctuary is only granted to those on good behavior.
Politicians lie and actions speak louder than words. You probably voted for the politicians who passed this law and who have obstructed ICE for years.
If people in Mexico want a better life in the states there are LEGAL routes they can take. Illegals, from all countries, should all be deported.
California is on the Mexican border, unlike all of the states in the Pacific Northwest. It's people, through their elected representatives, have spoken: they don't see deport-able aliens as a problem.
