The centrist ANO movement led by populist Andrej Babis decisively won the Czech Republic's parliamentary election Saturday in a vote that shifted the country to the right and paved the way for the euroskeptic billionaire to become its next prime minister.
Quote:
In a blow to the country's traditional political elite, four of the top five vote-getting parties Saturday were ones that have challenged the traditional political mainstream. Some have exploited fears of immigration and Islam and have been attacking the country's memberships in the EU and NATO.
It will be interesting to see whether or not the Czech Republic stays in the EU.
One of the reasons many Euro elections are producing more right-leaning and populist leaders is because plenty of Europeans know what the Open Society Foundation has been up to..... all over that continent. They know that their goals are ugly and not in the cultural or economic interest of each country.
Russia has been the bad guys since 1945 with the only exception being from 1992 to 1998. Euroskepticism isn't defending the west, it is exposing the west to possible conquest from the east.

Europeans are finally standing up for themselves, and their native interests. They are not bowing to foreign invaders, or self anointed elitists. Instead, they are standing up to them. This is encouraging, and exciting to watch.
Looks like being an expat in the Czech Republic is something I will have to rethink. Being in expat is something I've considered doing for years(I won't do it until I can make enough money for myself independently).
I live in a country where Trump is the President. I don't want Trump as the President, but as long as I'm here, I'm stuck with him. I have to tolerate it. It is what it is. However, I'm looking at politics in places turning towards the right wing. I'm not a hardline liberal, nor am I a right winger. I am more independent. Some places in Europe going towards the right does make me wonder about some things. And the tide towards the right isn't limited to Europe. It's happening in Latin America.
Somewhere, Berlusconi smiles at the thought that he's no longer the archetypical scummy-businessman-turned-scummy-politician.
