I dont think ATF would have a problem tracing a gun to its original owner and so-forth, unless of course, the serial number has been filed off. Ive never witness an instance law enforcement couldn't trace a gun to its original owner; if its been sold off or stolen. Have you?

Many gun advocates believe registering for tractability serves one purpose, and that's confiscation. Any gun registered with the government, is subjected to confiscation at any time for any reason (that's the current rule). And then there's constitutional privacy issues that doesn't bode well for many Americans; claiming the government doesn't need to know how many guns they have in their home.

I cant imagine an elderly man living in Alaska in the wilderness suddenly had to gather all his guns, take them to the nearest place (which could be 100's of miles away accessible only by plane) to get them all registered. He'd have to hire a plane/pilot, pay for air fuel, etc, not to mention the cost for registering the guns - because nothing is done for free in this world.

And yes, he was stopped by a law-abiding citizen who was armed and willing to step up and take action, thereby making sure that the church was the last place he shot anyone.

Spin and twist any way you want to, but the fact is that the shooter was stopped by a good guy with a gun, just as the vast majority of shooters are stopped. But hey, continue to pretend that removing firearms from the good guys will somehow make it less likely for bad guys to shoot people. I mean, the Gun Free Zone laws have stopped thousands of shootings, right? Oh, wait, mass shootings have more than doubled since that idiotic legislation was passed. Perhaps it's time for the left to admit that good intentions are not a valid reason to pass a law.
The shooter exited the church. Then he was confronted.

I would like upstanding citizens to be allowed to carry a firearm if they choose to. Generally someone that carries a gun knows how to use it. Who knows if a legal gun owner or 2 could have stopped the murdering spree but it certainly would have slowed it.

We need to have every organization in this country to combine their data bases ot prevent guns from getting into the wrong hands.

The problem is that our gun laws are not being enforced for some reason. I think the Liberals worry that too many black people will go to prison if they enforce the laws in cities like Chicago. Chicago has some of the toughest gun laws on the books yet the highest amount of gun crime/shootings? Why? something is wrong there and we have to ask ourselves what is going on and why nothing is being done.

It would be pretty difficult to prosecute our elected when they don't make better laws or even worse the Liberal judges that dismiss the illegal gun charge to give little Johnny one more chance and his next run in he kills someone.

And that is one change that could be made that would not infringe on anyone's gun rights. Restrict magazine size to a reasonable number like 9. In many of these mass shootings, it is during the time when the shooter is forced to change the magazine that offers a pause for people to escape and survive. If a hunter isn't happy with a 9 bullet magazine, then he's a rotten shot.

Some of them may have had a gun for all we know. They had their backs to the front door and were singing. I believe they were mowed down in the space of about 15 seconds, not even enough time and opportunity for someone to reach for his or her gun.

An Update for those who actually care about the Massacre in Texas from a news conference just held.

About the Funerals:

Texas has Crime Victim's Fund that will provide $6,500 for each victim for Funeral expenses.
A Corporation (as yet un-named) has donated a Casket for each victim.

May they all rest in Peace.
Its heartening to read the state and others are helping the victims of this massacre.

Navy seal Chris Kyle who is far better trained than anyone in the church couldn't stop a guy from shooting him, and this was at a shooting range in Texas of all places

Gun control laws do not prevent a person from getting an open carry permit especially in Texas, rural Texas to boot. Maybe if the NRA didn't approach every suggestion with their "Our way or were going to court" mentality then their could be a constructive conversation. Right to bear arms is fine but where is it written that everyone has a right to have a home arsenal like a 3rd world country?

Oh wait that's the NRA's position....never mind..

The 2nd amendment is not about hunting.
