So after 8 years of a growing economy, folks finally have enough to spend. Y'all think it all just happened in 11 months -- that's hilarious.

Even funnier is believing corporations pay out bonuses and give wage increases based on future earnings. This is funny stuff........a whole new concept in business. We will have more money a year from now so we will pay more out today. Funny stuff for sure....lolololol

In all fairness...

Maybe the result won't be so much in the way of bonuses, but many a business project/investment includes the ROI analysis -- after tax -- that will now look more favorable than before. Of course that helps boost more economic activity. Not rocket science, but also no guarantee any corporate tax savings will "trickle down" to average Americans in any meaningful way. No matter though, because as long as Trump supporters think things are better thanks to Trump, then things are better thanks to Trump. Period. We all know how that works by now.

Of course that's a big problem for all Americans who know better, because as long as Trump keeps getting credit for anything positive going on around us, everything positive going on around us, the more likely we'll need to endure more horrible government representatives elected to office. More horrible than Trump is hard to imagine, but so was Trump getting elected in the first place.

Now we have Trump's big "win" with this tax code overhaul as if any GOP POTUS would not been able to do the same with this GOP Congress. All the GOP candidates for POTUS were droning on about the same thing, including Ted Cruz for a flat tax. Big "win?" Yes! For the big winners, but who are they really?

Not the average American and certainly not our kids who are yet again going to find themselves with less and less for their generation while the most wealthy in our generation makes off with the spoils regardless the consequences for the rest.

This what we call making America "great again?"

And from the Fox News link ...

So even if the numbers hold up in other reports, there is likely to be a correction in the figures somewhere in the months ahead. Pretty sure Breitbart and Geteway Pundit will ignore those when they happen.
I do believe it's time for an update.

Precisely as I said, retail sales for December, now revised in the report for January, were extremely sedate. In fact, December's sales were revised downward to a gain of precisely ZERO over November. Since these numbers are seasonally adjusted, that means that sales in December were precisely what one would expect given normal November-to-December seasonality. No more, no less.

U.S. retail sales slump in January, and December’s initial gain was erased
Quote:
Sales at U.S. retailers fell by 0.3% in January — the biggest drop in almost a year — chiefly due to declines at auto dealers and home centers. And a previously reported increase in sales in December was wiped out.
And I should note also, given the decline in sales for January, those expecting a big boom for first quarter GDP are off to a poor start.

That's what happens when Americans have years of good steady growth.

One year dosn't set the world on fire...it can't. 7 years of positive job growth, slow and steady and strong.

WTG AMericans.

In spite of your govt.

That was some very ominous economic news today. There is a clear suggestion that we are about to return to the stagflation days of the Carter years - slow growth with ever increasing prices. For those who can recall those times, it was a very bleak time economically speaking.
