Dems will control the house for at least next 2 years, guess you will stay out of market for this duration because of "blue wave " ?
Were you out of market during Obama's 8 years of presidency as well ?

There was a Red Wave in 2010....I took some losses from the 2006 and 2008 Blue Waves. I knew Trump was going to be elected and believed the liars that said a Trump win would kill the market so I took a lot out the week before the election and then got back in the day after the election when they proved out to be liars.

Anyway, late here in Azerbaijan...buena suerte con tu ola azul

I'll help you out, the all time biggest drop in the market on the day after a Presidential election was 2008...Obama caused a 5.11% drop the day after his election....come on, check to see how Trump did in comparison.

I'm a long term "buy and hold" investor (and I've done pretty well, thank you). One day or short term swings in the market are just noise. Your examples are meaningless.

The The market went up about 70% during the blue wave Jan 2009 - Jan 2011.

If you lost money, then you did the worst possible thing, which was sell at the bottom.

I agree, I got into the market in 1995, (Mostly dividend funds) adding what I could every year since and have never sold any stocks....I'm happy.

Market timers are much more likely to get "whipsawed" than to beat the market.

The Russell 2K fell into bear territory today. Earlier this year the index was outperforming the large caps on the thought that the smaller domestic companies would not be hurt by tariffs as much. They were wrong. Trump is hurting them all - big and small - with his poor policies.

LOL. Yeah im sure it had nothing to do with bear sterns, or the housing market. BWAHAHHA.

Seriously, this is nonsense. Just like the latest nonsense about the market drop being about the Dems taking the House-something known for months in advance. Are folks really gullible enough to fall for this sort of nonsense?
