Really, is it the media, through education or relatives?

I am wondering cause if you seem to ask most people, they can't even answer themeselves so most liekly is just indoctrination. And is embarrassing.

Family, friends, schooling, and media combo.

Later on some folks find their political identity via a significant other and/or life experiences.

How else would one develop it?

If you ask me, media is a big player in here. As well as social groups.

But really, most don't develop it themeselves, if anything they get indoctrinated.

College turned this Chicago Democrat into a conservative Republican.

I doubt that could ever happen again today's day and age.

Radio talk shows.

Most Americans didn't pay any attention in school and political science actually mystifies them. Many don't understand the economic forces at work in society and don't realize when they are being played.

People like to be told what to think ( ... and pundits like Limbaugh and Beck are happy to oblige), but these same people really don't like it when that is pointed out to them.

Practical experience.

As the old (and true) saying goes, a liberal is a conservative whose neighbor just won the lottery... and a conservative is a liberal who just got mugged.
