Who needs the first amendment? Should a superintendent take a pay raise when teachers have gone without pay increases for 10+ years?

In NJ, the highest paid superintendents used to make North of 300K. About 5 years ago, in spite of them kicking and screaming, Christie capped them at $175k, which was the same salary for the Governor. They were all complaining that we wouldn’t be competitive at that “low” salary, and we wouldn’t be able to attract good superintendents. Somehow, we managed to survive.

Was she definitely arrested? I could be wrong, but I thought she was forcibly removed. Not that that is much better.

Loved watching the superintendent’s interview saying how dare she question his raise, after all he makes so much less than all the other superintendents and he deserves a raise.

They told her to leave, and she left the room. Before she left the building the school security cop knocks her down and arrests her and she is booked. She posted bail. The DA has refused to press charges saying he didn't see where she broke a law. She was definitely arrested. There was a video posted in the other thread.

Teachers have not only not received raises in ten years, but I have read one article someone else posted on the other thread about this about how the teachers have actually had their pay cut since 2011.

What I would like to know is why a superintendent gets paid so well when they don't do the educating...

If it were up to me... I would cut the middle men out and go straight to the source and pay teachers based on the GPA of their class...

It would encourage teachers to teach, morale would improve I'm sure they'd get pretty engaged with students to ensure they do well in class and on tests/quizzes...

I made some of my middle and high school teachers lives hell... but I do sympathize with them at a stagnant wage while the superintendent principal vice principal dean and their secretaries are raking in the dough...

Only thing my superintendent was good for, was not using snow days.

That was the weirdest thing. As far as the meeting rules were concerned she may have been out of line. But, she did leave, they cuffed her in the hallway. Strange and unjust.

It might also encourage some teachers to 'cheat' so that the grades are artificially high.

It might make it worse, but even so there is already massive grade inflation. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/economy...ade-as-average
There's an epidemic of grade inflation and unearned As in American high schools - Business Insider

Average grades are going up, SAT scores are going down, grades aren't going up because kids are smarter or studying harder.
Can't risk damaging their fragile psyches with a real evaluation of their work.
