It's what the Republicans who crafted the idea in the '90s termed personal responsibility--everybody has to have some skin in the game. Remember when Republicans used to pretend to stand for that?
So, the Obama Administration went ahead with it and punished those that could not afford it or chose not to.
Yeah, he or she might create a fake persona on an anonymous message board. That makes a lot of sense .
Quote:
As long as insurance companies can't discriminate against those with pre-existing conditions, those with catastrophic insurance should be okay. If they find themselves needing regular insurance coverage, they can always switch.
However, if insurance companies can refuse those with pre-existing conditions, then those with catastrophic coverage will find themselves in a more difficult situation.
If insurance companies are not allowed by law to refuse those with pre-existing conditions, then we all pay higher premiums to cover the cost of those who were coasting along until something came up.
Which doesn't affect you....you're on Medicare.
Why do you want top down control exerted over OTHER PEOPLE'S lives ?

So you are for universal healthcare, so everyone gets healthcare whether they can afford it or not? I'm good with that, but the GOP is standing in the way of that, too.
We have yet to see anything from the Republicans.
They had one decent idea, that the Democrats took and ran with because UH was not going to fly. Now the GOP will destroy their own idea to spite the Democrats, while still not coming up with one single idea to replace it.
All these years, and all they can manage is to destroy what's there, not present ideas to improve the health insurance situation in this country.

I was merely commenting on your "stool analogy." Based off of that, it appears to be a poorly planned and executed program.
Tell that to the millions and millions of people who were able to get health insurance for the first time. They would disagree.
Still waiting for the GOP's wonderful replacement...
Health insurance has always been available for purchase, ----- people just didn't want the $1000 monthly premiums and the $8000 deductibles Obamacare offered.
Oh, so Trump finally got his healthcare reform bill through Congress? Hmmmm, I hadn't heard, and I even checked CNN.
It similar to removing a head of state by war. General Powell is famous for the expression as pertaining to Iraq. The US invaded a sovereign country and removed its President. As a result, we owned it and had to pour a trillion$ and blood into it.
Donny repealed the mandate and has declared Obamacare dead leaving the insurance market skittish. It is now TrumpDon'tcare.
2019 numbers? You silly liberals, even the industry doesn’t even know what they are yet... liberal propaganda....
