imagine the current generation being the last generation with humans to do these types of jobs. AI is fast approaching and mechanical technology.

All hail corporate America.

It is sad what is happening -- and NO there won't be more jobs gained than lost, in this new technological revolution.

How will that help when corporations are free to exploit slave labor outside our country to sell back the widgets to us?

Labor in China and India will actually not be feasible in the future when robots and AI become perfected. Pay a few thousand for a robot that will work faster and 24 hours a day than a worker in a 3rd world country.

Governments will probably be forced to place an 'income tax' on robots and automation.

That won't be often. Maybe 1 employee for a state to troubleshoot. The loss of jobs will be staggering when the transformation is complete.

Either way we look at it, the current model is not going to work in the future.
With supply and demand, you can pay a robot repairman 10 bucks an hour to slap in a new board or part.
That same repairmen can handle 10 other big corporations on a rotating basis since he will be on a service contract with those companies.
