Do you have income tax withholding on your pension? The withholding is what is changing. They are going to withhold LESS.

I spoke to a buddy, who used to be a negotiator for DC37. He said you must have worked some serious OT your last year to get that size of a change. He did not give me numbers however he did not see his increase yet.

Yes I worked a ton of OT. That's why I retired. Plus there were other pension incentives that I invested in that significantly boosted my pension. Even though I make less I no longer pay state, city waiver and SS taxes. So with the OT, and other things I actually bring home more retired than when I was working. Made zero sense to stay on.

Withholdings do not always equate to tax liability

The best thing to do is wait until you file your return next year

Soo.... where's the money coming from for all Trump's pet projects? I mean, if he's showering all of y'all with this bounty?

by padding it with OT so that you could make more in retirement at age 47 then you did actually working? You do realize this is why taxes are high, much more so than the "welfare queens" or other canards you like to blame...

Both my SS and my pension went up this year.

Neither Trump nor Congress had anything to do with either one.

Now if your increase is due to tax adjustment, maybe you should hang onto that money. Because the tax cuts you are relying on will expire in 2025. How your taxes will change under the GOP tax plan depends on many factors - Dec. 18, 2017

We owe, we owe.

If the program Trump laid out in his address is enacted, the annual budget deficit will be closer to $1.5 trillion than the $1.0 trillion many are projecting every year through at least the next 10 years.
Legislated deficit reductions of any kind, including mandatory spending, are not at all likely before the 2018 election.
Trump, who likes to refer to himself and his administration with superlatives, is very likely to be the biggest deficit- and debt-increasing president of all time.
