Suppose I had a squirt gun, and I filled it with hydrochloric acid. Could I argue that regulating my ability to buy said acid violates my second amendment rights?

Squirt guns, ray guns, guns that shoot atomic nuclear fission bullets. All protected under the second amendment along with the venerable musket.

Yes, you could argue that.

There are lots of things that could be used as weapons to harm a few people. Impossible to regulate everything.

Probably best to start with assault weapons that can mow down dozens at a time.

So then, if North Korea can afford a nuclear weapon, they should be able to have one, right...?

Select fire weapons are already highly regulated.

Only if squirt guns were deemed as real guns.

However, you do bring up a good point. Acid attacks have been on the rise in the UK.

The squirt gun and the acid are not illegal just as the pressure cookers, explosive powder from fireworks, nails and ball bearings are not illegal but when put all together and placed behind unsuspecting people at the Boston Marathon a few years back they had a deadly result.

It is all about intent.
Just about anything can be turned into a weapon.

I'd be careful with that squirt gun because if you start waving it around in your neighborhood someone might just call the Police and in our hyper dangerous world the responding cops might shoot first and ask questions later.

Acid attacks and knife attacks are up all over the world. You can take away the guns but people will still find a way to hurt others.
This is what I meant by "Intent" on my previous post.

You can turn a simple sprayer into an efficient flame thrower with a simple BBQ igniter and a gallon of gas.

We actually used to do this to burn out electric fence weed lines. Extremely effective.
