Ratios, healthcare providers: local population, beds: local population, number/ type of claims : local population and competition matters.
Insurers willing to write plans in the Individual Plan Market have been contracting for more than 25 years.
80% of heart disease and Diabetes is preventable. That 75% of us are overweight- obese it should not come as a surprise most US people don't take responsibility for their own health. But we sure do complain about the cost of healthcare and premiums.
I think rightfully so. About 10-15 years ago I had no insurance and an extremely painful hip, looking into things I found a replacement implant that would likely be billed at $11-12K in the US would cost about $1100 in Belgium for the exact same unit. And the total cost for the procedure in Belgium would likely be less than $20K while the same procedure in the US would be $45-50K. And with a Congress that won't allow MediCare to negotiate prescription drug prices I think we have every right to complain about costs.
Where's the $2500 a year savings, the ability to keep our doctors, and our insurance that Obama promised? Trump didnt cost us all of the above, the Obama did
The $2500 savings went out the window when SCOTUS determined states did not have to expand Medicaid.
The remarks about keeping your doctor/ plan was ignorant. I was very surprised that those with basic understanding of insurance did not call him out on it at the time. There has never been certainty one could keep their doctor unless they paid out of pocket. MDs/ practices have always been free to cherry pick which networks they belong. My prior employer used to change carriers every yea which required changing to the current plan's roster of PPOs.
That most plans had to comply with the Ten Essential Healthcare Benefits, meant most pre ACA plans would become obsolete.
Obama's remarks earned 4 Pinochios from all fact checking organizations, regardless of their real or imagined political leanings.

I'm just as PO'd re Obama's lies about the ACA as you are but, FYI, the person you are replying to with the post above ^^^^^ is a Norwegian living in Norway.
Obama made the system worse, not better. I am not going to comment on NHS because I am not familiar with that one.
Better/ worse is subjective.
Those previously denied insurance due to preexisting conditions and/ or who exceeded annual/ lifetime claims caps would likely be more favorably disposed. The " Guaranteed Issue" requirement of the ACA is a huge benefit to millions.
Premiums are a reflection of the price of healthcare which is a reflection of a majority unhealthy population.
Even if it were true, the NHS is really none of his business. He needs to be worried about fixing problems in health care right here at home. The British can worry about their own HC system.
Trump isn’t knowledgeable enough to speak out on the issue. He should keep his piehole shut.
I suspect most Brits would not switch to a US form of healthcare for "all the tea in China".
While nearly 60 countries have embraced Universal Healthcare, ( healthcare as a human right) most do not operate with a Single Payer model, as the UK does.
Good, I think he is just waiting to show liberal lemmings how disastrous Obamacare truly is. The individual mandate is gone, so the rest of this lying legislation could be defunded and let the market dictate.
Gov getting involved is always disastrous.
Want single payer? Feel free to move to a country that has it. Not wanted here.
You have no clue do you?
Comparing the NHS to Obamacare is like comparing apples and planks of wood.
So using the NHS (with or without the misinformation about the protests) to object to The Affordable Health Care Act is not a good tool -- well -- I stand corrected -- it is for people who don't know any better, And that's the reality -- either our President doesn't know better or he thinks everyone else doesn't -- either way -- not a good look for a President of the USA.
