Yeah, remember when balancing the budget was all the outrage from the Right when Obama was in office?

Hmm.... whatever happened to that? Oh right, it was all just a show.

Balancing the budget is the latest Trump campaign promise to fall by the wayside. The Washington Post's Damian Paletta reports the White House is preparing to propose a budget that fails to get rid of the deficit over 10 years and instead seeks to merely reduce its growth by $3 trillion.

This is not what Trump told voters he would do during the 2016 campaign — and even as recently as last year, when the White House claimed (based upon questionable math) his previous budget proposal would have eventually balanced the budget if enacted. At times Trump has even said he would not only get rid of the deficit, but he would somehow wipe out what was then nearly $20 trillion worth of the national debt.

Trump and the GOP are coming for people's Social Security and Medicare. Prepare to work until 75 before getting SS and paying hundreds of thousands in co-pays for various illnesses even when on Medicare. This is the future as we steamroll towards massive tax giveaways to the ruling class and Wall Street ruling America (Trump has packed his administration with Wall Street big shots).

Trump happened, that's what happened.

I don't think most Americans wanted a balanced budget. If they did we would have President Kasich or President Cruz today, and Trump would have fared no better than Jim Gilmore in the GOP primaries. The electorate preferred the Republican least interested in the debt and the least interested in balanced budgets, and the one who promised free stuff unlike his competition.

Unfortunately the entire country is going to have to pay for the disinterest of the populace in the debt issue.
