That's right. It's not supposed to be her job, and there's no reason for the customer to think it was.

First of all you don’t know that. When I worked in restaurants the servers packaged the orders and made salads. The cooks make the food and put it on the expo. The rest was servers. 735 in food is a lot of work.

Totally wrong. They did not deal with a waitress.

A lot of work for the restaurant. People who do not deal with a waitress cannot be expected to tip the non-existent waitress.

I think it’s a reasonable assumption. Almost anybody knows that a waitress will be involved. The rest of the restaurant does not depend on tips.

How much do you tip the cashier at the supermarket?

Your point is well-taken and would be great for decision makers, not minimum wage employees

Really? That's quite a presumption. They don't have waitresses at Wing Stop. Yet somehow the food winds up in a bag ready for pick-up. Why would anyone think it is different elsewhere?

Now when I go to a restaurant and order takeout from a particular waitress, and know that she's in charge, I tip her.

Because one is a full service restaurant and the other is wing stop. Duh
