It’s sad people are using this woman’s death trying to score political points. The OP is dishonest as the 38 yr old teacher didn’t want to spend the $52 it would have cost for the medication. Tamiflu would have cost her just under $52 at Walmart or Kroger.
Drugs were coved under her employer's insurance plan (snopes). Since it was January, her deductible probably wasn't met yet. But, yes she could have just gone to Walmart.

Some on here are under the impression that is you get a flu shot - you won't get the flu - wrong. The flu shot is only able to protect against certain strains of the flu, so if you come into contact with a strain that you are not protected from, then you will still get the flu.
I received it yearly at the university clinic - but got the flu each and every year due to the variety of strains out there and the diverse student population.

Some also believe that taking Tamiflu guarantees you won't die from the flu.
The little girl from North Carolina who died had taken Tamiflu.
There's no guarantee.
I was given a prescription for Tamiflu last time I had the suspected flu; however, my doctor actually urged me not to use it for some reason. Said it was very expensive and very little "return on investment."
But but but socialism is evil!!
Yeah if americas system was SO great, wouldn't EVERY developed nation copy it? Or beg its leaders to convert to America's system?
No one I met in 5 years here wants to convert to it. Other nations are smart enough to get that healthcare should be affordable.
They also have a 20%-25% national VAT tax. Are you on board with implementing that in the US?

Our family experienced the same thing. Posted this in another thread, but it's also relevant here...

Me too, I'm not sure what the warning for liberals is all about
Perhaps that "insurance" shouldnt be a private rip-off system but that everyone should get the health care they need, affordable for everyone, regardless of income? Some see health care as a human right. Others see it is a way to rip off desperate people.
The prohibitively high costs of prescription medicine and healthcare in general in our country is in a way a separate issue from the socialized/privatized health insurance debate. If we could find a way to solve the former, the latter would not seem so urgent.
