In first two years, Obama had control of House but not sufficient control of Senate to pass through whatever he and Democrats wanted. You need 60 in Senate to really have free reign; Dems were short of 60.
Even the Democrats know that more gun control laws are political suicide. People can not rely on law enforcement, who only arrives after the fact for self defense. Guns are the great equalizer. The number of women members at my gun club has skyrocketed in the last few years. Most are first time gun owners. They are good shots too, responsible, and follow the safety rules. Not to mention some of them are just plain HOT!

I do believe that attitude is changing. More and more gun owners and hunters that I know and grew up with ~ are in favor of stricter gun laws. They don't want THEIR kids slaughtered in a school, movie theatre or an outdoor concert.
They aren't idiots. No one needs a weapon of war.

That will change soon. Anger is building and building. Parents don't want their kids held hostage to lunatics with guns and an out of control gun lobby that places no value on the lives of their children.

Yes I can, but I'm sure you have your mind made up already and nothing will change it. However, I will only say that Obama, and Hillary, both fought tooth and nail to get people to wake up and see that this madness has to stop. But NOOOOOOOOOOO, gun nuts have to have their weapons to make them feel secure, and they have the backing of groups like the NRA to keep anyone from getting any changes made.

Obama was more left wing than his party... he wanted common sense gun control.
Democrats are moderates who are often times mistaken as a left wing party...
So to answer your question, Obama was not neither weak on guns or a gun confiscator... the Democrat party however was weak on guns.
So, the right-wing engaged in a major fraud when they accused Obama of being anti-gun?
