President Donald Trump said Tuesday he's ordered Attorney General Jeff Sessions to propose rules on banning so-called bump stocks. Trump made the comments at a White House event, following the mass school shooting in Florida last week. Trump will host families and law enforcement later this week to discuss steps to strengthen school safety.

Its going to take a act of congress. I think proposing new laws is about the most he can do to be honest. And even then, the second amendment is a right. not a law, or suggestion.

Would be good to get rid of the NRA organized ban on the CDC collecting data as well so that GOOD decisions can be made, not just knee jerk ones.

In the end, I think it will take a new amendment to change things. And im not sure how I feel about that.

Why not just ban guns altogether and implement a confiscation program? Trump supporters will support Trump no matter what, and he'd be a hero among many on the left.

I don't think I saw the words "bump stock" in the 2nd amendment. Did I miss it?

He is his own worst enemy. Didn't pick up ONE vote and lost a lot with this move. Moron.

You think his 'base' would be down with a gun ban? I don't.

Hey, let's not go overboard with the 'hero' business. This guy is such a pathetic human (sic) being than I cannot imagine any legislation which he might propose that would make me even think of him as being anything other than evil, let alone a 'hero'.

Yup. But some zombie supporter will think of this as being quite the sacrifice and everything will be right in the gun world thereafter.

Bottom line is that the gun ship sailed a long time ago. We love our guns, and a few deaths every day is hardly a significant price to pay in exchange for having enough hardware to blow ourselves to bits. That's they way 'Americans' have said they want it and paid for (NRA) politicians have been quick to oblige.

I do. Trump supporters would find a way to support it. Studies show the vast majority of Trump supporters support him no matter what he does because its a support coming from the gut.
