why do liberals always fight the good things for America....why...because the liberals are globalists...globalism is socialism...liberals don't care about america
Liberals were saying America is great for my entire life (I'm 50) We were saying how great America was in 2016 when your candidate, Trump was telling us how it wasn't great. You live in a fantasy world.

Liberals fight FOR the good things in America. We are not as gullible as you seem to be. Sadly, you seem to not have a grasp on what is in your own best interest.

That could be. Wouldn't be surprised.

All depends where you source your steel from. Maytag has factories in Mexico. So if the stove is done there it is not affected. LG is S. Korean. Again not affected. Kitchenaid is US and China so again depends.

I mean you realize the tariff is on steel and not steel in finished goods correct?

Electrolux halts $250 million project in Springfield after Trump's tariff announcement
Did Foreign Maker Electrolux explain WHY they are not expanding into the USA with a product that will have ZERO Tariffs? It's only the imported products that are NOT produced in the USA that will have Tariffs.
I guess they also must want to import the Steel they use in their products - and think it's cheaper to not sell Electrolux in the USA at all since the entire Electrolux line would be taxed instead of just the cheap Chinese steel they would import to make the products here.

Does anyone actually believe that?

For the zillionth time ... THE TARIFFS ARE ON IMPORTED STEEL. THIS IS A CRUCIAL ISSUE TO CONSUMERS OF STEEL SUCH AS APPLIANCE MANUFACTURERS BECAUSE THEY WILL HAVE TO PAY HIGHER COSTS FOR STEEL WHICH WILL NEGATIVELY AFFECT THEIR BUSINESS. EXPANSION PLANS WILL BE PUT ASIDE, PLANTS WILL CLOSE AND PEOPLE WILL BE LAID OFF.

I hope I don't have to explain that again.

Wow, I had forgotten already what true statecraft looked and sounded like. What a melancholy moment ...

Are you talking steel tariffs? If yes then incorrect. I know in Jan. the U.S. put a tariff on washing machine but have heard nothing about other appliances.

And why would the entire Electrolux line be affected? They have factories in multiple countries.

In other words, if you've got a product that sells for $1000 with, say, a 10% profit margin, and let's say that $200 of the cost of the product is the cost of steel. Suddenly your costs of steel will go up, say, $50. Now your profit margin is only 5%. With a profit margin that low, it might be worth it to make that product elsewhere and import it into the US rather than *make* it in the US.

This is the problem -- folks don't understand what the impact is on so many products.

The irony is Trump is using security as the reason, but in the case of aluminium, much is needed in the military aerospace industry.

Going cost more for the US to produce planes. It's not just baseball bats and soup tins.
