Commerce Secretary Ross, "We would be willing to get rid of all our tariffs...if everybody else did. They won't do that."

Everyone seems to have failed to notice that we have been in a trade war for years.

If people want to argue over trade policy, at least have an honest discussion.

I say we put the same tariff on other countries goods that they have on ours, and level the playing field.

Or everybody get rid of their tariffs...but as Commerce Secretary Ross points out, they won't do that.

How about we just charge fair prices and only accept fair prices?

We should do that at every level beginning with our own lives

Dam Canadians buying shoes and scuffing them so they don't pay tariffs.

I would assume that if there were absolutely no trade tariffs, as well as no trade agreements (since Mr. Trump is tearing them up), then this country would not fare well with competing against Pakistan, India, Vietnam or China, to cite just a few countries.

I would assume that US businesses would move to said countries, where they can make their products cheaper, and then ship them back.

Of course, I know little about international trade. Perhaps someone could enlighten me on this point.

You can't suggest other countries dump tariffs while you subsidize an industry.

That's NOT FAIR trade.

But you know what -- they know you folks won't bother to understand the complexities or the other side -- all you'll do is drink their kool-aid and roll over

Hey; what a grand idea!

That would mean the U.S. would have to cut it's tariffs in half to align with Canada's.

Oh, and about that 25 $ billion you pay your farmers every single year in direct subsidies.....can we talk?

The EU has indirectly subsidized agriculture for years. Level the playing field? How about China raises it's manufacturing and industrial working conditions as well as quit playing games with their currency?

Well, that explains why you've hit Canada harder than China.
