I was surprised to find that, a) London police use stop and search, b) that knife crime is such a problem. Deploying 300 extra police this weekend to conduct 'intelligence' driven stop and search, looking for knives.

Quote:
The mayor urged police to be more “confident” when exercising their stop and search powers and promised “more targeted, intelligence-led” arrests.

“I have over the last two years said to the police 'be confident in intelligence led stop and search', to be confident in the body-worn camera protecting you against complaints that could be made - but also protecting the public as well,” he said.

But will this mayor defend police when they are accused of racial profiling?

A recent robbery involving swords and sledgehammers. In the US they would have been shot by the shopkeeper:

This the same moron mayor that recently said London was safer then New York City but recently it was revealed that London had more murders this year then New York City. The Black gang problem has increased but the London mayor refuses to do anything because, he claims, it would be racist.

Well, I don't know. There is a quote toward the end of the article, that I will paraphrase. Have your body cameras turned on and have confidence we will stand behind you. Or go back to the article to read the full quote.

What caught my eye was the 'stop and search'. NYC's Mayor DeBlasio of course, stopped stop and frisk, after 15 or so years effective crime control, because it was racist.

Maybe he is seeing the reality of a softer approach.

They should do stop and search in L.A .

The cops usually know who these criminals are . But it’s “racist “ to do anything about it .

Mayor of L.A is a major PC weenie and worried about being called racist.

He’s allowed black lives matter protestors to leave his own meetings lol .

Well if the elected of London are allowing and promoting stop and frisk maybe there will be a trickle down to the states.

I thought it was stupid to stop it in the first place. Yes it might smack of racial profiling BUT if the people that are prone to carrying weapons and drugs happen to be black then guess what....

If there was high crime rates in white neighborhoods the cops would be patrolling there more often but the most crime happens in predominantly black neighborhoods so they focus their attentions there.

Stop and frisk works.

That isn’t true at all. London has had 44 murders this year NYC has 57. It was 2 months in one year that NYC has less than London.

'Stop and frisk' wasn't what reduced crime in NYC. It was several factors: increased police hiring, rezoning of industrial areas etc. As a matter of fact, without 'stop and frisk' the crime rate is lower.
