Supervisors Vote 3-1 to Back ‘Sanctuary’ Challenge, But Deadline Has Passed

The county Board of Supervisors Tuesday voted 3-1 to file a court brief siding with the Trump Administration in its lawsuit against California’s so-called sanctuary state law.

With the vote, San Diego County became California’s most populous county to rebuke state policies aimed at protecting immigrants from deportation. The sanctuary state law, Senate Bill 54, limits cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities. It’s intent is to encourage immigrants to report crimes and work with police without fear of deportation.

...
“Public safety is our number one priority,” said Supervisor Kristin Gaspar, who chairs the Board of Supervisors and is running for Congress. “Here in San Diego it’s important to note how our law enforcement’s hands are being tied by SB 54.”

Earlier Tuesday, before the meeting, she tweeted, “Enough is enough! Governor Jerry Brown needs to follow the laws of our Constitution.

It took a small city to get it started... momentum is growing towards California upholding the laws of the country.

Speaking of that small city, it is now official and binding...

Los Alamitos Opts Out of State Sanctuary Law

Los Alamitos wants nothing to do with California's so-called sanctuary status and now they've codified it in a vote.

After two hours of heated debate on Monday night, the Los Alamitos City Council voted 4-1 to exempt the city from the law that limits cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities.

...
Los Alamitos' new ordinance says the state overstepped with the new law and that it "may be in direct conflict with federal laws and the Constitution." The council said they found that "it is impossible to honor our oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States."

...
Opponents to the ordinance say the vote was disappointing.

``There's been a real shift to a national, xenophobic acceptability in our society that is heartbreaking,'' Rabbi Jonathan Klein, executive director of the Clergy & Laity United for Economic Justice group, told the Orange County Register. ``We're in an era of open bigotry.''

Not many illegal immigrants go to San Diego anyway. It has the lowest Mexican population of any sizeable city on the border.

So what do they do? Press on through to LA or San Fran? The rest of America?

The point is San Diego has had enough and has taken a stance to uphold our federal immigration laws.
It is Ridiculous that we are even having this conversation.

Legal immigration is good.
Illegal immigration is bad.

What is so difficult about this for the Lug head Liberals to understand?

Only a Liberal could see a bright future for America when they put out the welcome mat at the unsecured border for just anyone to come in. I wonder if these same Libs lock their doors at night? I wonder if they woke up the next morning and found a couple of guys had snuck in and moved into their living room. Would the Liberal call the Police or make these guys breakfast ?

I heard something in the radio yesterday that the nutjob CA attorney general might sue these places for going against the Sanctuary state bs law .

It’s funny he’s not concerned about federal immigration law , but he wants them to follow a bogus pro illegal alien law .

How can CA have an attorney general that doesn’t respect immigration law or the federal government of the US President ?

In Chicago it's very hard to get by without discount labor (generally legal/illegal immigrants) due to the unions having the city by the b***s and charging $200/hour for anything. There's also some high-crime decrepit parts of the city where no one will move to besides illegal immigrants looking for dirt cheap apartments. Get rid of the illegal immigrants and all of the landlords & business owners scraping by serving illegal immigrants are screwed.

This was the county though, not just the city. San Diego County encompasses about 3 1/2 million people.
