Now most folks around these parts believe consent comes from standing in a certain geographic area or sliding out of a vagina so I can see why this hard for them to understand but anything you consent to doing is automatically not slavery.

Coercion? or Consent?
If you don't consent, they kill you.

Interesting.

I don’t agree we need the market to produce enough for all of us to live happily but his criticism of the free markets is much appreciated.

Remember, materialism doesn’t lead to happiness by itself.

Beg to differ though re: free market.

Another member here claimed "that 'collectivism' doesn't prevent natural disasters, poor farming skills, disease and suffering".

While this is true, the 'free market' doesn't either. Nor government, art, science, technology, etc.

No one gets out of here alive, so to speak, so why not give humanity a break? We're very often doing the best we can, with creative & critical thinking strategies & skills, our abilities to manage resources, develop functional tools, our natural tendency to adapt to an ever-changing environment, et cetera, et cetera.

Why mistake the tool for the person using it? An obvious however fatal flaw.

This is comparing real things to other real things.
Nothing prevents death.

That's why individualism, self-ownership (), and not infringing on the rights of others is paramount.

It's me vs death. I will lose but I want to be in charge of the fight.

If you and I can't drink to that Chi...it may be hopeless.

What if someone is is actively spreading a virus unknowingly is that persons rights more important than all the people he or she could potentially kill?

Your fight affects and is affected by everyone around you.

You are never just yourself.
