Well after slavery ended you did promise black folk 40 acres & a mule and you couldn't even do that !
You appear to be spreading historical falsehoods.
#1 Not all blacks were promised 40 acres and a mule. A few thousand blacks were told that they could get 40 acres (no mule) by a single general who didn't have proper authority to fully do so. President Andrew Johnson rescinded the command.
#2 No one alive back then is alive today. So you shouldn't pretend that this is a present issue of people not doing what they promised.
#3 Yes, the sharecropping system that was put in place after slavery fell apart was economically exploitative and should have been avoided, but that doesn't change the fact that all freedmen were not promised 40 acres and a mule and no one got that promise from someone in a position to make it happen 100% legally.

It is hilarious to me that so many of you like to ignore the above and act like it is something that black people benefit from exclusively.
If we are going to have a program of reparations, it needs to ONLY benefit black people and there is no program in this country that only benefits black people.

Not even sure why this was posted other than for the regulars to show their black-people-phobia by acting like black people in America are in a same situation or are somehow the same in culture or actions as black people in South Africa - a different country on a different continent where blacks are a majority of the population and who we by and large have no recent or even relatively distant connection to as blacks in America....

damn right. i want my 100 acres. but it's only fair that those that lost their lives, or property, to abolish slavery - get the same. i mean after all they lost their lives -- husbands / fathers / sons that never returned home.
I would guess that 9 out of every threads on reparations are started by white conservatives just wanting to stir the pot. If for some reason, they’re not angry or afraid enough at that very moment, they can always bring up reparations.
