That is hilarious. Working class to him is anyone making less than 250K a year -- he has no clue.

He doesn't 'connect' -- he spouts catch phrases and pretends to understand.

He doesn't 'talk' to these people -- he holds rallies and stands on a podium yelling at them.

I get the working man frustration angle but Trump has sold folks an image that just isn't true.

Trump the billionaire that at any time in his life could have committed himself to truly helping working class in his community has never ever done anything. This man has had a life time of wealth to connect with the working class...and he has done nothing.
Tragically, you are incorrect. He does connect. (He connects with a bunch of lies and propaganda, that they take as the gospel, but in fact he does connect.)

THIS is exactly what is going on today. Exactly. By the time people realize they are the target, it's too late:

Meh....as a Libertarian minded Conservative, I'd be happier being left alone with a true free market.

But Trump sure beats Liberal Democrats calling me a deplorable/racist/homophobic etc.

Bashing someone is a poor way to win them over to your point of view.

And it certainly won't get them to vote for you.

Dems had 100% control of all three branches for two years.

If they wanted "health care for everyone" they would have passed it then.

But what they wanted was a handout for the insurance companies.

Trump isn't using 'tactics'.

He actually believes in what he says, unlike most politicians who appear as chameleons.

Trump is a reference point, a touchstone as opposed to being a political hologram. People see that, despite the media's effort to damage Trump.

Obama 'evolved' to win votes. Hillary altered her speech patterns to blend in to garner regional votes.

I think Trump appeals to a certain class of people that have some sort of affinity for specific type of personality. One that I find very unappealing. I mean what is the difference between Trump, Hannity, Limbaugh, Uncle Ted etc. All are loud, arrogant, caustic and egotistical. Mix that in with the proper talking points and you have a love fest.

If by "real Americans," you mean racist, xenophobic, homophobic hypocrites, then yes.

He didn't. He eked out wins in some states and that impacted electoral votes.

There was no big upset or huge majority win in any swing state. He won big in republican states and barely won in states that were Democratic or swing states.
This was not a huge movement. It just wasn't.

This is a myth created in your own mind.

And even polls taken today don't show and overwhelming support of the President.

It just doesn't exist.

The country is very divided and too closely to have any party claim any kind of sweeping endorsement from American voters.

And -- of course -- Trump won. No disputing, no argument. He won fair and square but not because of any grand movement from voters.

At the end of the Day Trump got lucky. Hillary had many self-inflicted wounds (ignoring critical swing state in favor of running up the score in safe states), Bernie should've bowed out gracefully (when he saw there was no feasible chance for him to overtake Hillary) instead of continuing attacks, Foreign interference that as a matter of FACT has produced guilty pleas and indictments against members of Trump campaign. Plus many people, conservative democrats for example couldn't stomach voting for her.

I think personally Russia had a relativity minimal impact but just like with Watergate instead of saying what Nixon should've said (something along the lines of "these people tried to help they crossed the line the will be fired and dealt with") he is trying to cover up shady dealings (see above indictments/guilty pleas) because he wants to think he is beloved.

I know the employment numbers are good..excellent in fact but lets look at 4 major points

1) unemployment has been eroding for many years, he took the reigns ahead in the game (obama took presidency with unemployment around 10% and left around 4.5% where Trump took over, the economy does not exist in a vacuum, Trump has a higher bar than Obama (there i gave you a talking point in case of problems in 2020)

2) Isn't it amazing that when Obama was president per the GOP the "True" unemployment numbers were in the 20's maybe even in the 30's but now 3.8% is 100% accurate? Can't have it both ways.

3) The Tariffs could hurt those "real american" blue collar workers that carried trump over the finish line by even right leaning groups they are saying it could cost over 2 million jobs "but her e-mails" won't put food on the table unless of course you can retroactively blame Obama for Trump Tariffs which I am sure there will be a fair amount of people who will believe/convince themselves of that

4) Finally the biggest point. What have your wages been? Are you making the same wage that you were in 2016? Part-time workers are counted the same as full-time workers with economic numbers. Have you been working part time for all of trump? Has your wage been the same the past 2 years since Trump took over? When you file your taxes are you getting more than when you filed under Obama? Do you owe more than you did under Obama?

Yes, Trump is all about his base of racists and bigots. Choose your terminology - Palin called them Real Americans, Clinton called them deplorables, most would call them hillbillies, rednecks or just plain idiots.
