I believe the reverse. I think Trump cares more about Americans than Obama. Trump certainly did not run for the presidency for the money. He saw that the country was going in the wrong direction and wanted to do something about it.
So how does the narrative of him sticking It to liberals for in? How does his constant barrage of insult and provocation toward liberals fit? If he loved Americans, he may still have views in opposition, but government be so overtly hostile.
It's apparent to me that not only are we valuing self-serving action above viewing what's best for all, we are promoting a sociopathic vision. We are better than this. Or we were. I'm not sure what we are any more.
This isn't really a liberal/conservative issue, and it doesn't reflect on Trump and his noble purpose for North Korea, but clearly Kim is in charge of a regime that starves, brutally imprisons, and tortures (and sometimes rapes) its own citizens.
I am hoping that this summit meeting leads to less suffering of North Koreans in the future.
