Guess, the good conservatives who love our President in Bismarck and Casper and are America first get to enjoy very low property taxes as a reward for not catering to illegal aliens and anchor babies like El Paso.

El Paso unlike other America Loving parts of Texas who voted for Trump, gave Hillary a 43 point margin over President Trump.

Looks like the tremendous amounts of illegal aliens in El Paso are causing property taxes to skyrocket to over $5,000 for a 2,000 square foot home over 3% of the assessed value of the home.

In Casper, WY and Bismarck, ND where they don't have the number of anchor babies to try to educate they have about $1,500 per year in property tax. Well less than 1% of the homes value per year.

$5,041 of tax on a $162,000 family home in El Paso County, TX to educate the tremendous amounts of illegal aliens.

The same square footage house in Wyoming with one of the lowest populations of illegal aliens would be around $1,500 per year.

https://www.zillow.com/homes/for_sal...496_rect/8_zm/

In Bismarck, ND which illegal aliens are especially rare the same 2,000 square footage house in El Paso County, TX would have a $1,500 per year property tax bill.

Texas has high property taxes and home owners insurance. Thats one of the main reasons why housing is "cheap" there.

They will rise again when they start filling houses with 15-20 people. The households with 3-4 people really get screwed.

Wait, what? I thought only the coastal elitist states had high property taxes, thus were negatively impacted by the recent "tax cut for billionaires".

Now people in Texas are also negatively impacted by Trump's "Tax cut for billionaires".

There's a lower limit on deducting property taxes and other taxes (SALT),which means some people got tax increases if they aren't billionaires.

Wonder how many Texans will pay higher income taxes in 2018 because they can't deduct all their property taxes like they were able to do before 2018.

I love Texas tax policy. The state has no income tax and local communities see the results of voter base with those high property tax bills.

I guess El Pasoans would rather write huge checks for anchor babies and illegal aliens each year rather than fix their homes up or pay those air condition bills.

El Paso is a complete failure of a city that puts anchor babies before business also. Unlike other parts of Texas that are enjoying an economic success thanks to

Gone from 48,000 manufacturing jobs in the 1990s to 16,000 manufacturing jobs now. Business just can't afford the property taxes to educate the anchor babies so they flocked to places that voted for President Trump type Republicans

https://www.bls.gov/regions/southwest/tx_elpaso_msa.htm

Property taxes are high in Texas but over 3% is not common. El Paso has extremely high property taxes because the city has tremendous percentage of illegal aliens and anchor babies.

El Paso voted for the party of anchor babies, illegal aliens and MS-13 by a 43 point margin.

Glad, that their liberal and socialist failed city has to constantly raise taxes and drive business out.

Very stagnant economy because of the extremely high property taxes because of the El Paso tradition of having babies fast and often.

They need to drastically limit property taxes then they will be under the SALT limit.

Wyoming and North Dakota aren't worried about the loss of SALT deductions because the cities are full of anchor babies and illegal aliens.

Make up your mind and argue one or the other. You condemn those born here who are then citizens and then you condemn those here illegally.

What is your argument?

Are you new to property taxes? You are aware that they pay for more than just education. Me thinks there's a bit more infrastructure to maintain in El Paso than in Casper, WY.

Isn't it common knowledge that property taxes are high in Texas?

Expensive properties in all states can be above SALT limits. Lakefront and riverfront properties, large homes and/or large agreage properties without agricultural exemptions have high taxes because the properties are expensive and taxes(even low rate taxes) are based on property value. There are plenty of expensive properties in TX and ND and Wyoming and those people aren't going to deduct their SALT like prior years. In a nutshell, their taxes went up because they lost important deductions (as well as losing personal exemptions)

Wyoming is looking at increasing property taxes

https://trib.com/news/state-and-regi...d4f0ee7f4.html

Lawmakers are considering increasing Wyoming’s reliance on property taxes until the energy industry recovers. A bill considered by the Interim Joint Revenue Committee last week would raise the taxable value of residential and commercial property taxes by 2 percent
