And since foreigners are better people than Americans...

immigrants — legal or otherwise — make better citizens than native-born Americans. More entrepreneurial. More church-going. Less likely to have kids out of wedlock. Far less likely to commit crime. These are the kind of attributes Republicans claim to admire.
... there's just no reason in this NYT writer's view, other than stupidity, to oppose open borders.

Sure let's bring in millions more uneducated unskilled people that will never be fully self supporting. That's a great move if we aspire to 3rd world status.

Nothing soothes the soul like commiserating with someone who speaks a different language than you.

What the hell does some Liberal from NYC know about the real America. Come to TX and just look at the crime and damage to our schools.

We have over 25,000 Illegal Alien Felons in TX Prisons and they have committed over 900 murders since 2011.

CA with nearly 40 million people certainly doesn't have the space, resources and money for a few million more illegals.

I'm conflicted. The hardline anti-immigrant faction in American politics represents the antithesis of what America is all about with either overtly or covertly xenophobic and/or racist intentions. On the other hand, it seems that there are many people who are willing to put the interests of 7 billion foreigners ahead of 320 million Americans when it comes to immigration, trade, and foreign policy/aid. The truth is that immigrants can add value to American society while at the same time we can't simply accommodate anyone who has a sob story and shows up at our borders. It seems sense and reason is lost to most loudest of voices when it comes to this issue. Neither political party is offering a feasible solution to the inflows at our southern border. We can be compassionate and humane, while still controlling our own border. It seems "conservatives" have lost sense of the former, while "liberals" don't care about the latter. Thumbs down to all of you dimwitted partisans who help perpetuate this mess.

You listen to too much FALSE media!!

ILLEGAL immigration is the primary issue. Is is really that difficult to get that straight? Really? We will always welcome immigrants.....on our terms, not whenever they feel like it.

Chain migration is a problem too. I can tell you lots of stories about parents or siblings coming over, apparently showing the Feds that they have economic means so, you know, they won't be a burden on taxpayers. But the dumb Feds don't have systems linked so, in a year or so, the newbies (some of whom ARE wealthy) go onto welfare and Medicaid and we pay for people who are new and have never paid into our tax system.

How do you feel about that, Tyler? Wouldn't you like to know HOW MUCH American taxpayers are paying to new residents gaming the system? Does it bother you?

And stop with the racist accusations, no one is listening anymore to those vacant allegations. The boy who cried wolf....
