Seems to me if Germany has plenty of money these days (since they're spearheading the importation of the Middle East and Africa into Europe), they need to meet the target. Pay up, or ship out.

The 2% is merely a guideline and if the Germans don't want to adhere to it then so be it.

If the US wants to close bases that's up to the US.

Poland has already said they will pay the US to put bases there, so why not move some troops from Germany and Italy - Problem Solved.

There may be issues with NATO but for Americans to cheer on the end of the alliance is pure folly.

Our enemies are salivating.
Then the rest of the West needs to pull their fair share. Good enough to use, good enough to pay for.

You know what the BS is in this thread: That it is about money. That is lie. If the NATO allies were paying more than their share, Trump would still want to do away with the alliance.

Money is just a red herring. It is about the unravelling of the West, and the fools and puppets who are supporting it.

Yes, he is using this as a tool to break up the alliance, which is exactly what Putin wants. What amazed me is how quick his supporters are to support everything he does. The power of lemming mentality is strong.

NATO soldiers from Europe and Canada have been laying down their lives in a US Led conflict since 2001 and have spent more in bloodshed that any supposed costs.

It was also US bases in Europe such as the vast US Military Hospital in Germany that helped save the lives of many US Service Personnel, whilst the US gained valuable intelligence throgh it's European bases, and they also supported US operations in the Middle East on land, sea and air, as well as supplying important logistics.

If America wants to close it's strategic assets in Europe then so be it, but America itself will be a lot weaker without them, at a time when other countries are projecting their presence on the world stage.

Here's the bigger picture -

Other countries will complain about us until they need our help, then they expect us to be there to save them.

Exactly this. The west will do just fine as they will just seek other alliances. Dear Leader will keep waving his tiny orange hands around barfing his stupidity as it’s the USA that loses its world standing. Like another poster has said, the lifestyle we enjoy as world leaders will be impacted negatively as we become a nation with less say in world affairs. The Chinese, as seen in the video, are perfectly willing to step in and pick up the slack.

Such hypocrisy. The man who has never paid his fair share in his life is continuously hounding everyone else to do the same.
