So the Parkland kids are too young to know what they're talking about or have just been brainwashed by the leftist media, but this kid wearing a build the wall shirt is clear-headed and a hero?
It's not a free speech issue. Schools have a right to tell students what they can and can't wear. If I was a student there, I'd be compelled to wear a Deez Nutz shirt or Malcolm X shirt to test them.
Maybe a private school, but government cannot tell the people what to say, besides threats of physical harm and slander.... Period.
The courts have routinely ruled that schools can restrict what a student can wear in the interest of the overall educational setting.
I have not been a fan of that ruling even understanding why it was ruled that way. I imagine the courts will still rule this way but this school thought it less expensive to simply settle.
That school had Anti-Trump walkouts and pro-sanctuary city posters- very political. And they dare tell this kid he can't wear a pro-Trump t-shirt. lol. They are saying you are all liberal here and that's it. That is not teaching children to think. It is not allowing free speech or free thought.

It's quite stunning how people don't understand the basic concept of free speech.
I expect we will lose it within the next 10 years, as other countries have.

Today, that was overturned.
Government cannot tell the people what to say and what to wear, or you have a MASTER and are not free.

The school does have a right to tell students what they can wear, BUT, the rules have to apply equally to all students. They didnt in this case.

The school said the shirt could make Hispanic students "uncomfortable". I wonder how conservative students feel every day when the school is pushing liberalism on them.
If the staff is as brainwashed as they probably are, conservatism isn't valid, it is fascist and they don't even want those kids around. I can't imagine they can have the kind of political debates and discussions kids in the past had in school.
"Barnes viewed that as unfair censorship of his political views, as he noted that other political views in opposition to his own were permitted to be expressed in the school by both teachers and other students."
Liberalism at our schools at its finest!

The judge agreed.
The judge is correct. I am NO fan of Trump, but if you allow liberal T shirts you must allow conservative ones. Or you can allow NO T shirts.

Must treat both liberals and conservatives the same.

Agree 100%. Social agendas do not belong in the classroom. And I can't even imagine that they have fair-balanced debates in the schools, or that the students are even taught how to debate critically. Probably just 2 sides touting the same progressive info and agreeing with each other. And then everyone gets an A.
