And your Constitutional argument that the administration does have the right to withhold federal public safety funding if the city limits its cooperation with ICE officials would be WHAT?

Do Undocumented Immigrants Overuse Government Benefits?

The Facts:
  • Unauthorized immigrants are ineligible for most major federally-funded safety net programs.
  • Undocumented immigrants are not eligible to receive Social Security benefits even though many contribute to the system.
  • There are some federal programs that serve those in need, regardless of immigration status.
  • State and local governments disproportionately bear the burden of supporting undocumented immigrants.
  • Many unauthorized immigrants have dependent children or a spouse who are citizens and who may qualify for public benefits.
  • Immigration enforcement activity reduces the degree to which undocumented immigrants access benefits for their families.
What this Means:

Despite scapegoating in public discourse, the drain that undocumented immigrants place on government benefit programs is small.

If Conservatives are of the Christian persuasion, they are missing one point made in the Bible ...
God helps those who are utterly helpless:

You have been a refuge for the poor,
a refuge for the needy in their distress,
a shelter from the storm
and a shade from the heat.
For the breath of the ruthless
is like a storm driving against a wall (Isaiah 25:4)
It’s not as simple as that. Certain demographic groups among us second generation and later Americans are more likely to use social services than others. Immigration policy should consider the immigrants future value and that of his descendants.

The reasons are complex but Hispanics are more likely to receive government welfare than the average American.

Because that is how it is done in any Dictatorship, and we all know, Donald Trump LOVES Dictators. Bet he lays awake at night trying to figure out how Kim and Putin have such control over their people, and he does not.

Maybe when he moves to Russia Putin will make him second in command...….."Comrade Trump"...…...has a nice ring to it, doesn't it ?

I couldn't have said it better

The libs want open borders with all the problems that come with it. We are a country of laws.

They also want the economy to tank and taxes to go back up

The lib media didn't say a word about the 4.1% GDP because they are still lost in the Stormy Daniels wilderness.

Like I said in a thread a long time ago, Donald Trump could give everyone of you a pile of money and you would still want more

MAGA!

Give me a break!

President Trump is President Trump. He reached more Americans every day by tweeting than will ever be reached by the anti-Trump media.

Some of his tweets are garbage, but most tell me things that I never see on fake news

MAGA!

For someone who claims as much success as op, one would think he/she would be above common trolling. We just went through the culmination of three lower court rulings, including appeals court reviews and decisions being overturned on constitutional grounds. Janus, Masterpiece Cakeshop and Trump vs Hawaii.

Even the unsophisticated know that district courts are not the final say. In fact, they are the very early, beginning step. Friendly judges are not that difficult to find, for either party. It will be interesting and I think important, for this particular or any other 'sanctuary city' versus 'federal government' immigration related cases to wind their way through our court system, finding their way to The Supreme Court, for final ruling. As should be the case in our Constitutional Republic.

National security and immigration as federal purviews, as they always have been.
