Good! If you can't take care of yourself then you don't need to be here! We have more than enough American citizens who need help we don't need MORE coming here expecting a handout.
I'm pretty sure many Western countries take use of public programs into account when granting citizenship. Some of the Western countries the Left likes to point to as a model won't even allow someone who can't support themselves to immigrate there at all.
How is this news? This was ALWAYS supposed to be a consideration in granting citizenship:
Quote:
"Public charge has been part of U.S. immigration law for more than 100 years as a ground of inadmissibility and deportation. An individual who is likely at any time to become a public charge is inadmissible to the United States and ineligible to become a legal permanent resident.
Under Section 212(a)(4) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), an individual seeking admission to the United States or seeking to adjust status to permanent resident (obtaining a green card) is inadmissible if the individual "at the time of application for admission or adjustment of status, is likely at any time to become a public charge." If an individual is inadmissible, admission to the United States or adjustment of status will not be granted."
They aren't being deported, they just aren't given citizenship until they can prove they can support themselves. The next time I'm having trouble supporting myself I'm going to knock on your door with a folder filled with all of my bills so you can pay them all for me then ask you if you would legally claim me as a dependent and your answer better be a swift "OK". Will you do that?

Since ACA has been around for a very limited period of time, it is pretty much impossible that is has always been the case that people who have ACA plan would be tossed out.
Read the law. It's already illegal for anyone who is or will be a public charge to immigrate to the US:

The Left loves to quote the "give me your huddled masses" poem at the Statue of Liberty but what they forget is that when all those immigrants were coming through Ellis island they had to be healthy, they had to have the means to take care of themselves either with money or a job skill or they needed to have a sponsor that would assure that the immigrant would not become a bum on the street.
What has changed in so many peoples minds that it is a good thing for America to import millions of people that are poor, do not speak the common language, have very little job skills and in some cases are sick with diseases that the US hasn't had to deal with in decades or longer.
Why is the Left so keen on bringing in more people that will be dependent on the gov. for their daily survival??
oh yeah VOTES.
