Actually, what Nunes was trying to convey to this group of donors was the absolute necessity of the Republicans keeping the house. And when he talks about protecting Trump, he isn't talking about from criminal investigations. He is talking about protecting Trump from insane Democrats who seem bent on undoing everything they've tried to do over the last 2 years. And that includes the election of the president himself. The only way Republicans can stop Democrats in the House from attempting to impeach the president is to maintain power. That is the "protection" Nunes is referring too. It's actually pretty easy to figure that out if you aren't listening to it with ill intent. Or, in other words, if you aren't simply looking for a way to twist the man's words into something they weren't meant to be. And judging by your rhetoric regarding the president, I'm pretty sure your ears were wide open but the interpretation was a result of a personal bias on your part.
Regardless of how you slice it...he is precisely protecting Trump from justice being served. Nunes is aiding and abetting a grifter and traitor, puppet of Putin, in order to maintain power and proliferate corruption.
