So while they are dealing with being diabetic as well as all the other aspects of their life, they should look around for a charity or donor? You're actually encouraging folks to ask for handouts from private citizens while at the same time saying they should not expect handouts from the government. It's the "I got mine, so you can go self-fornicate" argument.
Arguing your point that diabetics deserve to die if they can't afford health care gives credence to that philosophy which I found absolutely repugnant. But you said one of the risk factors, etc. etc. What about the other risk factors? Do they deserve to die as well? I was never more than 20 pounds overweight and this was years before I was diagnosed. I played a lot of basketball with friends, rode my bike 10 miles a day, sometimes more, and walked a lot, too. I was in pretty good shape, all things being equal. Right up until the time Ibecame diabetic. Go figure.
Just ignore the disgusting attitude of a few in here. Chances are, they talk a big game but they will also rely on a public safety net sooner or later. Life happens and no one knows what can happen. People think they have so much control over their lives but they really dont.

It's no different than the "I don't have what I think I'm entitled to, so YOU have to pay for me to have it" mentality. I don't see the problem with expecting private donations/charity to fund all the demands for freebies. There's no end of bleeding-hearters insisting that the poor should get all kinds of things for free, especially here on city-data. Well, now's the chance for the bleeding-hearters to step up themselves and pay for it.

Again, that is not what I said. Private donations/charities can pay for it.

Because it apparently isn't clear enough to you... The number one risk factor for type 2 diabetes is being overweight.

There you go. Self-inflicted.

But you were overweight, which is something you could have changed.

It's still just one of the factors. I hope neither you not anyone you know becomes diabetic. It is a hell I would not wish on anyone. So is not having adequate health care.

Being less than 20 lbs overweight is not that high of a risk factor compared to genetics.
Should people who have bad genetics be banned from having children?

My Mom is. Brought on by being overweight. No surprise. She was warned by her Dr. but didn't make the diet and lifestyle changes she needed to.
And do you really not see how being irresponsible with your own health very likely caused your diabetes, the health problems that followed (as complications of diabetes), and caused you to lose your job which was providing insurance?
People frequently make self-sabotaging life decisions, and then try to pretend they're victims instead of the actual instigators. It's ridiculous. And then they demand that others work as slaves to pay for the damage they've done to their own lives.
