It would be much better if everyone could just take a 2 month course and call themselves doctors, so we can get more "doctors" who can "treat" people, right? Get that government out of it, and have witch doctors on demand.
Do you know how many years it takes to become a master mechanic or electrician?

Ah yes, the old "doctors are gods" mentality.
Aside from surgeons who have skill these cats are down to Googlers in white coats processing insurance claims.
LOL....I'm so happy that I live in BC, Canada.....Just paid my monthly health care premium of $37.50 this morning....Love our system.... For those of you who think they can opt out and pay their own bills, you should plan to die young, because when you reach retirement age those medical bills will begin to pile up on you.
You could likely count on one finger people who have a $200k auto repair bill.
Auto repair isnt that expensive because the guv largely stays out of it. Supply, competition etc, all aid in bringing prices down. Thank you for helping make my point.
Out of the 33 developed countries, 32 have universal health care. They adopt one of the following three models. In a single-payer system, the government taxes its citizens to pay for health care. Twelve of the 32 countries have this system.
The problem with that idea is that too many people underestimate their ability to fend for themselves and not rely on a public safety net. People who would "opt out" suddenly come begging when they cant pay that $400 000 treatment, when they get Alzheimer's at 65, cant pay nursing home costs at $100 000 a year, go blind at 40, wife dies, loses job and health insurance, have three kids to take care of, cant fight the insurance company, cant work. Simply put, life happens, and people have less control than they think they have.
I don’t care. I want no part of socialized medicine.

And the technologies electricians and auto techs are working with change constantly, unlike the human body. Also, doctors bury their mistakes and get paid even when the remedy they've prescribed doesnt work or makes the patient sicker. Of course those who deify doctors and govt licensure never address the fact that medical mistakes are the third leading cause of death. They dont call it "practicing" medicine for nuthin.

I’m pushing sixty and I have no medical bills. I eat what I want and my quarterly blood work is normal that I pay out of pocket. I pass my aviation medical with flying colours, my mother is 84 and still has all her marbles. I don’t have anything to worry about.
