They are too invested, emotionally, to give in. They would look like utter fools and that flies in the face of their pretend intellectual superiority.
This. When the inevitable downfall of Trump occurs, they will be completely in denial and blame it on everybody but Trump and their own gullibility. It's kinda like asking an ant to understand that it's living on a planet in a vast galaxy with millions of other stars and planets. They simply aren't capable of understanding.

I watch the Trump supporters and am reminded of the Obama supporters and the Hillary supporters. Hardliners are like groupies at a rock concert or a WWE event. They are totally blind and ignorant by choice of their party's candidates failings.
Obama lied, misled and misrepresented on many issues and his supporters made excuses for him.
Hillary has more baggage than any democrat in. modern history and her supporters excused her.
Blame the parties for Trump, and their hardliners.

Nobody made a mistake. There were two absolutely terrible options and people did what they always do, which is vote for the lesser of two evils. The lesser of two evils is always still evil.
Yeah, we get it. Only you get to pick the president.
I don’t feel this way at all. But, I do live in reality, and...well...this administration is an obvious dumpster fire (at best). I’d like to see some acknowledgement of that from Trump supporters.
