I’ve seen so much criticism and attacks of South Africa’s government from right wing media and YouTube channels lately and I don’t get the obsession. Could someone really explain this to me? There’s a lot of misinformation about genocide going on but no evidence. They also don’t talk about the plight of the black majority even though they’re poorer and are more victimized by crime.
I must have seen at least 50 new threads yesterday about Cohen and Manafort.
But genocide looming and possible civil war in South Africa? Nothing really worth talking about there. No, we need to create more threads fantasizing about how a Manafort conviction is going to bring down two-scoop. That's where the real world problems are.
I know there has been some issues with farmers (those of a specific race that is a minority there) land being seized by the South African government. Which I heard about it from a friend of ours who is living near the area. It has been going on for quite a while now.

No land has actually been taken yet, it’s just a proposal. And the fact that the majority of farmers are white in a majority Black country should be a concern. I don’t agree with the ANC’s proposal but some type of land reform needs to happen. Whether it be a slow transfer of land, a buyback program, or the government using eminent domain is up to the citizens of that country. But to say that a country with a growing middle class and the strongest capitalist society in Africa is going to fail because of this is intellectually dishonest. The government isn’t going to squander it’s tax base for political points.
IMO, the problem the blacks have in South Africa is not land it is having farming equipment. With out farming equipment having a thousand acres is no good. What South Africa needs is a loan from a country and they agree to buy needed equipment, seed and other from lending country. U S lends them 20 billion and South Africans end up on John Deere tractors.

LOL
I guess you never heard of Zimbabwe and the decisions they made which has them in peril.

Yes, which is exactly why SA wouldn’t make the same mistakes Zim did. They are really close countries culturally so I’m sure SA citizens are well read up on what happened considering the amount of Zimbabwean immigrants in South Africa.

So... you wanted to discuss this, but thought it would be cooler to frame it as something "the right" wants to discuss?
