A damn shame. I don't agree universally with his political stances, and I did not like what the presidential campaign did to him in 2008, but he was always fair, logical, respectful, and caring. A war hero and a stand-up man. Blessings to him and his family as he makes his way into whatever comes next.

After all the terrible things President Trump will say, I wonder if he'll manage to say anything nice about McCain if he passes soon.

McCain has already made it known that Donald Trump will not be allowed to attend his funeral. And rightfully so. Donny "five deferments" Trump ducked and dodged serving his country as much as he could. He then insulted a man who was a POW for over four years and has more military medals and ribbons than Donald Trump has had mistresses.

He will almost certainly issue a statement today through Sarah Sanders. Then you will be proven wrong, yet again.

So sad. He served his country with honor. He is a good man.

not everyone in life gets along and has to attend someone’s funeral.

MCCain has brain tumor which probably has been there for years which explains some of his statements and decisions.

MCCain should respect his voters and stepped down when he became too ill to work like everyone has to stop working.

What an endearing, capable man who set the standard for civil behavior.

McCain, who was treated with incredible brutality in the name of serving his country, had the exceptional character to not take the low road in an election.

God bless you, John McCain, and so many others like you who serve with quiet dignity and courage and innate kindness. Gone too soon.

Surely he will notify the governor of Arizona of his intent to step down soon, which will instigate an interim appointment and then a by-election to fill the rest of his term
John has been absent for about a year now, is that right? Anyway, it seems like a long time. I'm not sure how it all works, but the sooner the governor appoints someone the better. Arizona needs to be represented.
